THE ANNUAL CHINESE SAILING FESTIVAL TO BE HELD IN HAIKOU IN NOVEMBER
HAIKOU, China, August 28, 2019/Xinhua-AsiaNet/--
On August 26 in Qinhuangdao, the Chinese Yachting Association and Haikou Municipal People's Government announced that a series of activities of the 2019 Annual Chinese Sailing Festival will be held in Haikou on November 11-24. After the successful 2018 Annual Chinese Sailing Festival, this is a follow-up activity themed "Sailing City, Sailing Haikou".
The 2019 Annual Chinese Sailing Festival will include activities such as the annual meeting of the Chinese Yachting Association, the final of China Sailing League, the final of Chinese Family Sailing Competition, the China Sailing Hall of Fame and Keelboat World Championship.
World Sailing, national and regional Sailing Organizations, the General Administration of Sport of China, city representatives and athletes will attend the Festival. The first Keelboat World Championship is the world's highest-level single keelboat championship, newly launched by World Sailing. It is also the first world-class keelboat race to be held in China.
Liu Weidong, Secretary General of the Chinese Yachting Association, said that the Annual Chinese Sailing Festival series is a significant attempt of the Chinese Yachting Association and Haikou Municipal People's Government for building the culture of sailing, promoting tourism and implementing industrial integration. The Festival has received positive response from and is actively participated by the international and Chinese sailing communities.
Long Weidong, Vice Mayor of Haikou, introduced that Haikou, as one of the first batch of China Sailing Cities, has invested and built the Sailing & Windsurfing Training Base, Haikou Sailing Windsurfing Theme Hotel, the Sailing Windsurfing Boathouse, the Talent Building and National Sailing Base & the Public Marina. Focusing on the sport of sailing, Haikou aims to integrate sports with tourism and build a national sports tourism demonstration zone.
