Mary Kay, UN agencies empower Women´s Entrepreneurship Accelerator programme
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 -- Mary Kay Inc has partnered United Nations (UN) agencies to launch the Women’s Entrepreneurship Accelerator, a multi-partner initiative designed to inspire, educate and empower women entrepreneurs worldwide.
The ground-breaking initiative is a strategic collaboration with UN Women, United Nations Office for Partnerships, International Labour Organization, International Trade Centre, UN Global Compact and the United Nations Development Programme.
The Accelerator will offer a guided digital curriculum supplemented by on-the-ground training and mentorship, serving as an advocacy platform to eliminate entrepreneurial roadblocks for women, ranging from digital literacy to legal reform.
It will support global efforts to encourage businesses to establish and expand relationships with women-owned businesses, including corporate procurement.
Future expansion of the programme will include funding opportunities accessible to women who complete the curriculum, according to a statement.
The Women’s Entrepreneurship Accelerator will be initially available in six languages, with more to come as it will expand to 192 countries. An advisory committee will be convened to oversee the expansion and promotion of the programme.
The programme is the latest in a series of recent steps taken by Mary Kay to empower women and improve their lives worldwide.
