ITALIAN SUPER CUP KICKS OFF IN SAUDI ARABIA
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 18 (Bernama) -- Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, will host the Italian Super Cup match between AC Milan, reigning Serie A champions and Inter Milan, the most recent Coppa Italia champions, on Jan 18 at Riyadh’s King Fahd Stadium, Saudi Arabia.
Brought by the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Sport as part of the sporting events in the second Diriyah Season, football fans in Saudi Arabia and the world will get to see two of Milan’s giants go head-to-head in an epic derby showdown, the ministry said in a statement.
“The Italian Super Cup was previously staged in Saudi Arabia in 2018 and 2019, where the first edition took place at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah which featured Juventus and AC Milan.
“The second edition that featured Juventus and Lazio was held at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh” it said.
The event is hosted with the aim to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and as one of the “Quality of Life” Programme’s initiatives, by hosting the most spectacular and largest international sporting events, to ensure a great experience for the visitors of Diriyah Season.
